Collaboration with the Dafy-Kaedear-RAC41-Honda Team

Endurance racing is one of the toughest areas in motorsport. It is not only about setting one fast lap. In the end, consistency, reliable technology, good preparation and the right decisions at the right time are what really matter.
That is exactly where data becomes important. RAC41 has been using 2D hardware in racing since 2021. The French team competes in motorcycle endurance racing and works closely with our technology through SIGMALIS and Laurent Lacroix, our distributor in France. For us, this is a great example of how 2D systems are used in real racing conditions.

The RAC41 setup includes several 2D components, such as:

– Sticklogger LG CANSTICKV2
– LSU Interface IN LSU4.9
– GNSS
– TPMS BC TMS
– Suspension sensors
– Brake pressure sensors
– Oil pressure sensors
– Oil temperature sensors
– TPMS Paddock Survey System for tyre pressure monitoring in the pit box

With this setup, the team can record and analyse important data from the motorcycle. This includes tyre pressure, suspension movement, brake pressure, oil temperature, oil pressure and position data on track.

Especially in endurance racing, this kind of information can make a real difference. A race is not decided by one quick lap only. The bike has to work consistently over many hours, the riders need to give useful feedback and the team in the pit box has to react quickly when needed. Another important point for the team is easy access to data during a race weekend. After each run and also between runs, the data can be collected through a simple USB stick change at the Sticklogger. This helps the team keep an eye on important bike parameters during the race and react faster when it comes to setup decisions or tyre strategy. For endurance racing, reliability also matters in the small details. RAC41 uses the Sticklogger with an IP protected DTM connector. Compared to a standard USB connector, this solution is more resistant to rain, dust and vibration, which makes it especially useful in tough racing conditions. As part of the yearly winter preparation, RAC41 sends selected 2D components to us for inspection and service. This includes looms, loggers and interfaces, helping make sure the system is ready for the next season.

For us, this long-term collaboration is very valuable. Motorsport is a tough environment for electronics, sensors and data acquisition. Vibration, heat, weather, long distances and time pressure quickly show whether a system is reliable or not. The fact that RAC41 has been using 2D hardware for several years and also relies on our technical support means a lot to us. It shows that our systems are not only made for test benches or lab conditions, but for the place where they really need to work.

For us, this is a strong example of how important reliable data acquisition is in real racing conditions. We are happy to continue supporting RAC41 with 2D technology and wish them good luck at Spa-Francorchamps in early June.
